Terms of service
Box Of Colours — Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to purchases made through boxofcolours.com (the “Website”).
Please read these Terms carefully before placing an order. By placing an order through the Website, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms apply primarily to consumer purchases. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
1. About Box Of Colours
Box Of Colours is a sole trader business based in England, United Kingdom.
Business address:
7 Borough House
Midhurst
GU29 9DX
United Kingdom
Email: des@boxofcolours.com
Website: boxofcolours.com
Box Of Colours is a sole trader and is not a limited company. It therefore does not have a Companies House company registration number.
For purchases made through the Website, Box Of Colours is the seller and contracting party.
We work with independent makers and suppliers, including makers based in Italy. Some products may be manufactured, prepared, packaged and/or dispatched directly by one of these makers or suppliers on our behalf.
The use of a supplier or direct dispatch arrangement does not change your contractual relationship with Box Of Colours.
2. Our products
We sell decorative and functional homeware products, including:
-
glass vases;
-
glass sculptures;
-
chandeliers;
-
table lamps; and
-
other glass and homeware products.
Many of our products are handmade or individually produced.
As a result, reasonable variations may occur in:
-
colour;
-
pattern;
-
texture;
-
glass bubbles or other characteristics of handmade glass;
-
dimensions;
-
finish; and
-
appearance.
Such variations are not necessarily defects where they are consistent with the handmade nature of the product and the description provided.
Product photographs may also appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography and the device or screen used to view them.
3. Made-to-order products
Some of our products are made or prepared after an order is placed.
The fact that a product is made to order does not, by itself, remove your statutory right to cancel an online purchase.
However, where a product is genuinely personalised or made to your individual specifications, an applicable legal exception to the right to cancel may apply.
If a product is subject to an applicable cancellation exception, we will make this clear before you place your order.
4. Product information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, dimensions, colours and specifications are accurate.
Before purchasing, you should carefully read the product description and any product-specific warnings, instructions or specifications.
This is particularly important for:
-
fragile glass products;
-
large or heavy products;
-
chandeliers;
-
table lamps;
-
electrical products; and
-
products requiring installation.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights if a product is not as described, is faulty, unsafe or does not conform to the contract.
5. Glass product safety
Many products sold by Box Of Colours are made from glass.
Glass products can break if dropped, knocked, incorrectly handled or exposed to inappropriate conditions.
You should:
-
handle glass products carefully;
-
use appropriate lifting and handling methods for larger or heavier pieces;
-
place products on stable, suitable surfaces;
-
ensure products cannot easily be knocked over;
-
keep products away from unsuitable edges or unstable surfaces;
-
follow any product-specific instructions supplied with the product;
-
keep glass products away from children where the product presents a foreseeable risk;
-
avoid exposing glass to sudden or extreme temperature changes unless the product is specifically designed for this;
-
inspect products periodically for cracks, chips or other damage; and
-
stop using a product if it becomes cracked, chipped, unstable or otherwise appears unsafe.
Do not use a damaged glass product where continued use could create a risk of injury.
If glass breaks, do not handle broken glass with bare hands. Keep people and animals away from the area and dispose of broken glass safely.
For vases and other containers, use an appropriate stable surface and take care when filling, moving or cleaning them.
Where a product has specific care or safety instructions, those instructions take priority over this general guidance.
6. Electrical products — lamps and chandeliers
Some products sold through the Website are electrical products, including table lamps and chandeliers.
Electrical products must be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and any safety information supplied with the product.
Product specifications may vary and may include requirements relating to:
-
voltage;
-
frequency;
-
wattage;
-
bulb type;
-
bulb wattage;
-
electrical connections;
-
mounting;
-
installation; and
-
indoor or outdoor use.
You must check the product information and instructions before using or installing an electrical product.
Installation
Chandeliers and other fixed electrical products may require professional installation.
Where professional installation is required or recommended, you should use a suitably qualified electrician or other appropriately qualified professional.
Do not attempt electrical installation if you are not suitably qualified.
Do not modify, rewire, alter or repair an electrical product unless this is expressly permitted by the manufacturer and carried out by an appropriately qualified person.
Do not use an electrical product if it appears damaged, has exposed wiring, shows signs of overheating, or otherwise appears unsafe.
7. Electrical product compliance
We work with makers and suppliers to obtain appropriate product information and conformity documentation for electrical products sold through the Website.
Where applicable, electrical products must meet the regulatory requirements applicable to the market in which they are supplied.
For products supplied into Great Britain, applicable electrical equipment requirements may include conformity assessment, appropriate conformity marking, technical documentation, manufacturer/importer information and instructions and safety information. UK guidance confirms that a UK business placing electrical equipment from an EEA country onto the GB market may have importer obligations.
Where applicable, products supplied to customers in the European Union must also comply with the requirements applicable to the EU market.
We do not knowingly offer products that we know to be unsafe or non-compliant for the market in which they are being supplied.
If you believe that an electrical product supplied by us may be unsafe or non-compliant, please contact us immediately at:
Please stop using the product until the issue has been investigated.
8. Product safety information for EU customers
Where products are offered to consumers in the European Union, we provide applicable product identification, manufacturer information and relevant safety or warning information as required by applicable law.
EU rules for online product offers require certain manufacturer information, product identification and applicable warnings or safety information to be displayed or otherwise made available to consumers.
The exact information provided may vary according to the particular product and the applicable legal requirements.
9. Prices
Product prices are displayed on the Website.
Where applicable, taxes and mandatory charges will be included or identified as required by law.
Delivery charges and, for international orders, potentially customs duties, import taxes or other charges may apply.
Any applicable charges that we are required to disclose before purchase will be shown during the ordering process.
We reserve the right to correct obvious errors in prices or product descriptions.
If an obvious pricing error occurs, we may contact you before accepting or fulfilling your order.
10. Placing an order
You can place an order through the Website by following the online checkout process.
Before submitting your order, you should check:
-
the products selected;
-
quantities;
-
product specifications;
-
delivery address;
-
payment details; and
-
total price and delivery charges.
You are responsible for providing an accurate delivery address.
When you submit an order, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products.
We will normally send an order acknowledgement by email.
An order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted.
We may decline or cancel an order where, for example:
-
a product is unavailable;
-
there is an obvious pricing or description error;
-
we cannot reasonably fulfil the order;
-
a destination cannot reasonably be served;
-
there is suspected fraud or payment irregularity; or
-
circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent fulfilment.
If we cancel an order after payment has been received, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled order.
11. Payment
We currently accept payment through PayPal and may offer other payment methods through Shopify.
These may include:
-
Shopify Payments;
-
Klarna;
-
Apple Pay; and
-
Google Pay.
The payment methods available may depend on your location, device, order and other circumstances.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers and may be subject to those providers' own terms and conditions.
12. Delivery
Our current estimated delivery times are:
Europe: approximately 2–3 weeks
Rest of world: approximately 3–6 weeks
These are estimates and are not guaranteed delivery dates unless we expressly agree otherwise with you.
Some products may take longer because they are made to order.
Some orders may be dispatched directly from an Italian maker or supplier on behalf of Box Of Colours.
We remain your point of contact and seller for purchases made through our Website.
We will provide available delivery information during the ordering process and/or in your order confirmation.
UK online-selling rules generally require sellers to provide delivery arrangements, costs and expected delivery times before purchase, and to provide the contract in a form the customer can save.
13. International orders
We sell products internationally.
For orders delivered outside the UK, additional charges may apply, including:
-
import duties;
-
customs charges;
-
local taxes;
-
brokerage or clearance charges; or
-
other charges imposed by the destination country.
Unless expressly stated otherwise at checkout, these charges are generally the customer's responsibility.
Import regulations differ between countries.
We cannot guarantee that every product can be imported into every country.
You are responsible for providing accurate delivery information and complying with applicable import requirements in your country.
14. Delivery damage
Because many of our products are fragile glass items, we take reasonable care in arranging appropriate packaging and shipping.
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably practicable at:
Where possible, please provide photographs of:
-
the damaged product;
-
the packaging;
-
the internal protective packaging;
-
the shipping label; and
-
any visible external damage.
This information helps us investigate the problem with the carrier, maker or supplier.
Failure to report damage immediately does not automatically remove any statutory rights you may have.
15. Risk and responsibility for goods
For consumer purchases, responsibility for goods will pass to you in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict your statutory rights regarding delivery, loss, damage or defective goods.
16. Cancellation and returns
If you are a UK consumer purchasing online, you generally have a statutory right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of receiving the goods, subject to applicable legal exceptions. You normally then have a further 14 days to return the goods.
EU consumers generally have a similar 14-day withdrawal right for distance purchases, subject to applicable exceptions.
In addition to statutory rights, Box Of Colours currently offers a 30-day returns policy for eligible purchases.
Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for full details.
Nothing in these Terms or our Returns & Refunds Policy removes or limits your statutory rights.
17. Faulty, damaged or non-conforming products
If a product is faulty, damaged, unsafe or does not conform to its description or the contract, you may have legal rights to a repair, replacement, price reduction, refund or another remedy depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Please contact:
We will assess the issue and explain the available remedy.
Where a product is unsafe, please stop using it and contact us.
18. Refunds
Where a refund is due, we will normally refund the original payment method.
For valid statutory cancellations, we will refund amounts required by applicable law.
Under UK rules, a valid statutory cancellation generally requires the trader to refund the standard delivery charge originally paid, although an additional amount paid for a more expensive delivery option does not necessarily have to be refunded.
Where legally permitted, a deduction may be made for diminished value resulting from handling beyond what was reasonably necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for the full procedure.
19. Our makers and suppliers
We work with independent makers and suppliers, including suppliers based in Italy.
A supplier may:
-
manufacture a product;
-
prepare a product;
-
package a product; and/or
-
dispatch a product directly to you.
These arrangements do not normally make the supplier the seller under your purchase contract with Box Of Colours.
We may obtain product information, safety information and conformity documentation from our suppliers where required.

Unless otherwise stated, the content of the Website is owned by or licensed to Box Of Colours.
This includes:

-
other original content.

We may temporarily suspend or modify the Website for maintenance, security, updates or other operational reasons.
22. Third-party websites and services
The Website may contain links to third-party websites or use third-party services.
These may include payment providers, social media services, advertising services, delivery services and other technology providers.
Third-party services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

23. Privacy and cookies
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Our Website also uses cookies and similar technologies.
We use a cookie consent mechanism and may use advertising technologies including the Meta/Facebook Pixel.

24. Events outside our reasonable control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
These may include:
-
severe weather;
-
natural disasters;
-
fire;
-
war;
-
terrorism;
-
industrial disputes;
-
transport disruption;
-
customs delays;
-
government restrictions;
-
significant supply-chain disruption;
-
carrier failures; or
-
other circumstances that could not reasonably have been prevented or avoided.
This does not affect statutory rights relating to cancellation, refunds or remedies.
25. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing excludes or limits:
-
your statutory consumer rights;
-
liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence;
-
liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
-
any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to these limitations, we will be responsible for losses that are reasonably foreseeable and arise directly from our breach of these Terms or our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, to the extent permitted by law.
If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect mandatory consumer protection rights or remedies available to you.
26. Complaints
If you have a complaint about a product, order, delivery or our service, please contact us first:
Email: des@boxofcolours.com
Please provide, where relevant:
-
your order number;
-
your name;
-
details of the issue; and
-
photographs or other relevant information.
We will investigate the complaint and seek to resolve it fairly.
27. Consumer protection
Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive you of mandatory consumer protections applicable to your purchase.
Depending on where you live, you may have statutory rights relating to:
-
product quality;
-
product safety;
-
conformity with description;
-
cancellation;
-
refunds;
-
repairs;
-
replacements;
-
price reductions; and
-
other remedies.
Those rights apply in addition to any voluntary rights offered by Box Of Colours unless applicable law provides otherwise.
28. Governing law
If you are a consumer, these Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you additional rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive you of protections provided by mandatory consumer law.
Where permitted by law, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms.
29. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
The version applicable to your purchase will normally be the version in force when you place your order, unless a change is required by law or otherwise agreed with you.
The latest version will be published on the Website.
30. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified or removed only to the extent necessary.
The remaining provisions will continue to apply.
